Christianity is Boring!

At one point in our lives, we might have looked at other Christians living solely for Jesus and perceived them to be boring.

You'll think of that person that was probably "the life of the party", and now it seems they live a very restricted and "boring" life.

I had this perception. I had thought that I had to give up all the things I liked and enjoyed doing if I decided to choose Jesus.

This perception was solely based on the lens of the world. This is because the world’s idea of fun contradicts the nature of God, and being a Christian means aligning with the will of God in everything you do.

Well, I got saved, everything changed, and so did my perception.

The fear of living a boring life when you choose Jesus is what has stopped some people from choosing Jesus. Christianity is not boring. Christianity is not a death sentence for excitement!

I mean, we can see that Jesus’ first miracle was at a wedding. He provided more wine so that the wedding could continue.

7. “Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,”

‭‭John‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the Book of Acts, we can see that believers went to each other’s houses to eat, drink, and talk about the Word.

“And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭46‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Everything good was created by God!

“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let's see the second part of the above verse in another version.

“Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ 6:17b NLT

Your passions, interests and desires were placed in you by God! He wants you to enjoy all that he has created.

You might be wondering then why did God give us so many laws? Why does it seem that Christian's have to live a very restrictive life?

Here's the short answer; you can have so much of something that it puts you in a prison. Also not everything is good for you, even if it's not a bad thing.

Let's use food for example, we need food to survive, and eating is also an enjoyable experience. Now why do you stop eating when you're full? Because if you keep eating beyond a certain limit, you can get sick and the thing you were supposed to enjoy ends up becoming a source of harm to your body.

This example applies to the things that are seemingly good, what about the things that are clearly harmful to us?

Remember that obeying Gods laws are not for His good, they are for ours! Actions have consequences and because of that, God gave us laws to protect us because He loves us.

It may appear that Christian's are living boring lives, but I assure you there's no better way to live and enjoy life than Gods way.

Allow God, your Creator, to refine you and help you enjoy life in a way that pleases Him!
